Development of cognitive interest, intellectualand creative skills of students in the process of educational geography excursions

Анотація

The article characterizes the development of cognitive interest, intellectual and creative abilities of students of general secondary education institutions in the process of educational excursions in geography. Special attention is paid to the effectiveness of the process of formation of geographical knowledge, abilities and skills in extracurricular time, namely, during excursions. They are a logical continuation of lessons, while ensuring the continuity of educational and educational work in geography outside of school hours. Geographical excursions are one of the forms of cognitive activity of schoolchildren. Their implementation requires the use of modern teaching methods. Excursions are a continuation of students’ assimilation of theoretical material in geography lessons, but in a different environment - among the nature of their native land, at industrial or transport enterprises, museums, etc. Excursions have great educational value. According to K.D. Ushinsky «A wonderful landscape has such a great educational influence on the development of a young soul that it is difficult to compete with the influence of a teacher, that a day spent by a child among groves and fields is worth many weeks spent at the study bench.» The value of excursions in geography is that schoolchildren perceive natural objects directly with different senses, observe and analyze the relationships between them in the natural environment. This contributes to the formation of cognitive interest and creative abilities of students to see nature as a single whole, in which all elements are closely interconnected, forming a natural chain. Pupils acquiring geographical knowledge, skills and competences in geography lessons and consolidating them during excursions make it possible to navigate complex modern social processes and nationally identify. One of the main tasks of the new Ukrainian school is to increase the efficiency of the educational process in order to promote the comprehensive and harmonious development of the individual, his moral and intellectual self-improvement. The formation of students’ cognitive interest in the current socio-pedagogical conditions of their life becomes especially relevant. Study tours in geography are the main form of extracurricular activities of students of general secondary education institutions
