This way of rest is inherent in many cafes, bars, restaurants and is easily accessible not only for youth students, but also for senior pupils. However, the idea that smoking of tobacco through a hookah doesn’t harm health is wrong. In Ukraine, smoking of tobacco through a hookah is today an urgent medical and valeological problem. The purpose of our research was to determine of the causes that contribute to development of the bad habit of smoking hookah among youth students in Ukraine, as well as the risks for their health (on the example of applicants of higher education of University Hryhoriy Skovoroda in Pereiaslav). Using the questionnaire and experimental methods, the results obtained of the research allowed to establish that the vast majority of the studied of students smoke hookah. The main reasons of smoking tobacco through a hookah are: opportunity to relax, personal pleasure and company support. Smoking of hookah adversely affects on the functioning of cardiovascular and respiratory system of research, which increases the risk of development of dangerous ills. By the research are characterized a low level of awareness of the real consequences of hookah smoking on the human body is considered in it. In the middle a hookah smoking session by research’ students lasts from 20 to 60 minutes is installed. During this time, the smoker makes ≈169 puffs with a volume of ≈528 ml of hookah smoke. The duration of one puff is ≈3 seconds with a frequency of 3 puffs for minute. A significant number of potentially dangerous components of hookah smoke is so high that during inhalation a certain volume of such smoke and their number for minute is inhaled, this is not only a toxicological risk of health problems for young people of smoking hookah, but also a risk of damage to their mental and reproductive health, which will have a long-term effective negative echo for future generations. Especially this concerns those children who will be born to women who will often smoke hookah during pregnancy, because they will have a higher risk of developing respiratory diseases. And also such women can give birth to children with less weight than they have never smoked at all. Of point of view, modern student youth should be aware of the dangers of hookah and choose a healthy, high-quality life and without the slightest harm to their own health
