Abstract
The aim of the article is to the study of multifaceted activity of the professor of Kharkov University of Anastas Zaikevych on the base of development of agricultural science in the second half of the XIXth – the first third of the XXth century. The following methods of scientific knowledge were used in this research: analysis and synthesis, classification, chronological, comparative-historical, retrospective and other auxiliary methods. All the scientific activity of A. Ye. Zaikevych was connected with the Kharkov Society of Agriculture, where the need of organization is justified of research fields is elucidated in the article. The scientist was engaged of research of beet sowing, developed a program of field experiments and methods their realization. Among the most actual questions, interesting as a practical and scientific point of view, were the questions of research of the culture of wheat, namely, the study of peculiarities the culture of spring and winter wheat, their distribution depending of climatically and soil conditions is determined in it. The methodology is substantiated in detail, namely, that when researching wheat according to the instructions of the scientist, three main aspects must be taken into account: 1) natural[1]historical; 2) agricultural; 3) commercial-industrial.
