Abstract
The purpose of the article is to present the results of diagnosis of the motives for constructing stories by children of middle and senior preschool age, a description of psychotechnologies and psychotechniques for the development of speech motives and their influence on the speech motives of preschool children. Research results are revealing the peculiarities and levels of formation of preschool children’s speech motives, the characteristics of motives according to the identified levels; the specifics of the developed and tested psychodidactic technology for the development of speech motivation in children and its influence on the formation of speech motives. The presented psychotechnology and a set of other developmental measures have a positive effect on the development of preschoolers’s speech motives, namely: unstable, non-independent motives of children’s narrative speech are changed to stable, independent and socially aimed at the implementation of communication and educational-speech activity; preschoolers have a desire for verbal self-expression; the perceived image of the intended (desired) outcome of the story becomes a conscious goal that begins to direct their speech processes; in children of senior preschool age have elements of meaning formation – arbitrary and conscious realization of motives-goals
